FAQs

How do I become a captain?

In consultation with division representatives, the Board approves all captains for the Competitive League.   The Board selects players who have demonstrated leadership skills, a dedication to the organization, and a commitment to promoting a safe and fun playing environment.  If you’re interested in serving as a captain, please reach out to your division representative.

You can find our league rules on our resources page.

What is the season format?

Here's the flow this season:

  • Skills exhibitions (sign up will be available here)
  • Captains draft teams
  • Team Announcement Party (info will be available here)
  • Several weeks of regular season play
  • Two weeks of playoffs, with only winning teams playing the second week

Matches start at 7:00 PM, 8:00 PM, 9:00 PM, and 10:00 PM

1-hour time slots: 5 min to warm-up, 50 min to play, 5 min to clear the court

Play 3 sets from 4pts to 25pts, win by 2pts, or capped at 27pts

How are teams selected?

Captains draft teams of 8 players. Players are not guaranteed to be drafted onto a team, but the registrations fee will be fully refunded if a team spot is not secured.

Before drafting, there are two optional Skills Exhibition nights players can attend to demonstrate their skills to the captains. While these are optional, we recommend players attend so that the captains and Board can get to know them and make sure they are placed in an appropriate division.

At these Skills Exhibition nights, players will be able to showcase a variety of skills, including serving, setting, passing, and hitting.  This may sound intimidating, but it's not!  Players are encouraged to come out and have a good time!

You'll be able to register for the skills exhibitions on the events page.
